Belmont Tree Planting with the Tree Commission

Saturday, November 17 2018

** Thanks! This event has enough volunteers now!! **
The Tree Commission and The Charlottesville Area Tree Stewards (CATS) are working to plant free trees for Charlottesville residents. Belmont will be our first neighborhood planting project with hope for subsequent neighborhoods in coming years. The tree plantings will be in residents' front yards, with the goal to become a community amenity; the trees will eventually shade the sidewalks and streets. We see trees as a way to bring community together!
This project will team Tree Stewards with Belmont residents to plant trees. Volunteers to arrive at 9:45am, residents at 10am at north eastern corner of Belmont Park. Volunteers will be paired with resident groups. Groups will take trees to homes and plant trees in groups. Wood chips (provided by City) will be delivered to houses with a truck.
Bring: Shovels, Gloves, Sunscreen, Bug Spray, Water and Snack.
Project Leaders: Peter Russell (Tree Commission) and Rosanne Simon rsimon_96@msn.com
