Bayou Bonfouca Marsh Restoration Planting Event

The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana (CRCL), Chevron, and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) invite you to participate in our Bayou Bonfouca Marsh Restoration event on Thursday, May 30th located within Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge. We will be preparing and planting native marsh grass and we need your help! This project will assist in stabilizing a marsh creation project and will help establish native vegetation that will create wildlife habitat. Space is limited, so registration is first-come, first-served.

Project Details:

When: Saturday, June 1st, 2019
9:00 a.m. to no later than 4:00 p.m.

Where: Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge in Lacombe, LA

*NOTE: All volunteers will park and check-in at the boat launch and will be shuttled to the planting site via boat.

Important information:

Directions and additional details will be provided to registered volunteers via e-mail a few days prior to the event.
Registration is open from 9:00 to 9:30 am. Due to the logistics of this event - registration will close at 9:30 am. We cannot accommodate volunteers that arrive late or need to leave early.
Please note the minimum age for volunteers is 16 and all minors must be accompanied by an adult.
Planting in the marsh is a strenuous activity, so physical fitness is required.
All equipment (life vests, gloves, etc.) and lunch and drinks (with vegetarian options) will be provided to all volunteers.
Be prepared to get WET and DIRTY. Closed-toes shoes that tie/cinch to your feet are required.
We require that all volunteers please register to let us know if you plan to attend. If any additional members of your family/friends are attending, then they must also register. You can register to volunteer at the bottom of this page.

Volunteering on our coast is wonderful way to spend a day and we would like to ensure that everyone gets a chance to have a great experience.

If, after registering, you find you are unable to attend, please notify katie.denman@crcl.org of your cancellation.

If the event registration is full, you can be added to a waiting list.
