Tara’s Chance is dedicated to promoting the physical, cognitive, and social well-being of those with special needs through equine assisted activities and therapies. It's a place where therapy feels like play. https://www.taraschance.org/
What is Equine Therapy?
Therapeutic riding uses equine-assisted activities to positively affect the cognitive, emotional, physical and overall wellness of people with a variety of disabilities and special needs. This therapy is unique, in that when using a horse, we are able to stimulate three-dimensional movement, which is the same as someone walking. When a horse walks, it rotates the riders hip and spine.
Riders learn how to balance, shift their weight and learn basic equilibrium responses which all transfer to added mobility on the ground. Research also confirms the neurological and behavioral effectiveness of equine therapy, showing that it lowers blood pressure and heart rate, alleviates stress and reduces symptoms of anxiety and depression.
