Blessing of the Beer Festival

Blessing of the Beer Festival on Saturday, October 22. Event runs 12 PM to 6 PM. We hope to host 500-1000 people from the St. John's Parish and School family and the wider community for a celebration that mingles the spirit of Oktoberfest and Blessing of the Fleet! This even will require a significant volunteer presence. Thank you in advance for your support!
Volunteers will receive free non-drinker admission to the event outside of their shifts. Volunteers who wish to purchase regular admission tickets may do so at a reduced rate on site; however, volunteers working the medical tent may not drink before their shifts. All other volunteers who attend the event prior to their shifts are expected to exercise discretion and be prepared to responsibly execute their volunteer duties at the assigned time.
Qualifications required for specific volunteer positions:
Kids Game Attendant - must be complete with Virtus Training
Medical Tent - must be a doctor, nurse, or EMT
Parking for volunteers:
Parking spaces for volunteers will be available on Dillow Farm Ln (across St. John's Road from the main entrance to the Parish grounds). Additional volunteer parking information is available in the attached pdf titled "BOTB Volunteer Check In and Parking Info." To the maximum extent possible, volunteers should carpool or arrange to be dropped off and picked up.
Volunteer day of check in information:
Expect to check in at the event admin tent by your shift start time. See the attached pdf titled "BOTB Volunteer Check In and Parking Info" for a map of the event with the admin tent location.
Assist with general event set up.
Set up kid's game area and staff kid's game area. Must be complete with Virtus training.
Set up and staff medical tent. Healthcare professionals only.
Assist with setup, particularly in check in and sales area. Staff check in and sales area during event.
Maintain ice at beer tents and regularly remove trash in festival area to SJS dumpsters. Conduct other logistics duties as required.
Expect two volunteers to assist each beer vendor. Pour and serve beer plus other help as needed.
Sell water and extra drink tickets. Expect to be filled by Knights of Columbus.
Staff and break down medical tent. Healthcare professionals only.
Staff kid's game area and break down kid's game area after event.
Serve as a parking attendant until parking lot is clear and then assist with general event clean up.
Staff check in and sales area during event. Assist with clean up after the event.
