Winter Fruit Tree Pruning

Saturday, January 18 2020

Thank you for volunteering with Portland Parks & Recreation Urban Forestry!

WHAT: Urban Forestry planted a demonstration orchard outside of our North Portland office in 2010. The
orchard includes 55 diverse fruit and nut trees, from the traditional apples, pears, and cherries
to paw paws, persimmons, jujubes, mulberries, and medlars. These young trees are now ready for
their winter pruning. This is a great opportunity for beginners learn fruit tree pruning basics or for
veterans to sharpen their skills.

WHERE: East Delta Park Orchard, 10910 N Denver Ave. Portland, Oregon 97217

WHEN: Saturday, January 18, 2020. Registration will open at 8:30 am. The workshop will begin promptly at 9:00 am and will end at 12:00 pm.

WHAT TO EXPECT: UF staff arborists will give an overview of pruning basics and provide a pruning demonstration. Volunteers break into small groups to prune specific trees. No experience is necessary; we will provide all necessary training and tools on site. Please wear close toed shoes and dress for the weather. This event will be held rain or shine.
