Tree Inventory Team Leader Training: Identification and Protocol

Thank you for volunteering with Portland Parks & Recreation Urban Forestry!

WHAT: Team Leaders guide novice volunteers through scientific data collection to collect species, size, and health data on Portland's park trees. This training is required for all new team leaders. We will go over project goals, basic tree biology, how to identify Portland's most common park trees, inventory protocol, and the tools used to collect data.

WHERE: Parklane Reformed Christian Church, 16001 SE Main Street, Portland OR 97233. Please park in the back parking lot.

WHEN: Saturday, June 1. Registration will open at 8:30 AM. The training will begin at 9 AM and will end at 2:30 PM, with a break for lunch. Coffee, light breakfast snacks, and lunch will be provided.

WHAT TO EXPECT: We will be spending half the day inside and half the day outside in Parklane Park. We will be going over tree identification and inventory protocol and tools. Light breakfast snacks, coffee, and lunch will be provided. Please wear close-toed shoes and dress for the weather as this event will be held rain or shine. We recommend bringing a totebag or packpack, hat, and water bottle. Please leave dogs at home. Bring a friend!
