Vallejo People's Garden - April 6th (9:30 AM-11:30 AM)

Sunday, April 06 2025

Vallejo People's Garden
Hosted by American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) X COM Student Executive Council (COMSEC)
In Celebration of National DO Day (Week) of Service at TUCOM-CA

As part of TUCOM-CA’s participation in National DO Day (Week) of Service (NDODS), join us for a meaningful and hands-on volunteer day at Vallejo People’s Garden, a vibrant community garden located on Mare Island in Vallejo.

Event Schedule:

9:30 AM – 10:30 AM: Tour of the gardens featuring various plants, some with medicinal properties and others with diverse community uses—always a favorite among visitors.

10:30 AM – 11:30 AM: Help with routine tasks around the garden, primarily focusing on weeding. Due to recent rains, weeds have grown abundantly, and volunteers are especially needed to help clear areas overtaken by weeds.

Volunteers are expected to wear sturdy shoes and bring their refillable water bottle. If you have gloves (a box of nitrile or latex free gloves work), please bring those.

No prior gardening experience is necessary, just bring your energy, a willingness to help, and clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty.

National DO Day of Service (NDODS) is a nationwide initiative organized through the Translating Osteopathic Understanding into Community Health (TOUCH) program by the Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents (COSGP) in collaboration with AACOM. At TUCOM-CA, this week of service is coordinated by COMSEC VP of Community Outreach and features events hosted by student clubs and organizations across campus.

Join us in growing a healthier community.

For any questions, feel free to contact Ravinder Singh, COMSEC VP of Community Outreach at tucom.vpcommunityoutreach@tu.edu.
