Tree Stewards of Arlington and Alexandria

 

Come join a walk through the old Hamlets Apartments complex in the west end of Alexandria, Sunday, May 17, 9:30-11:30.  We will discuss Alexandria's efforts to expand its "tree equity" programs, and its tree canopy overall, by planting trees on private property.  We will then look at a Tree Steward planting from last year and walk the grounds to select sites for, and types of, 35 trees that will be planted this fall.   We will work from Alexandria's list of acceptable trees and the list of available trees at Evergreen Nursery, which will supply the trees.  A chance to learn together. The walk will be led by Russ Bailey and Bill Gillespie and we will meet at the far end of Ascot Court, in the Lynbrook Apartments complex, right off Sanger Ave.    Saturday, October 10, the likely planting day.
