Dominion HIlls (Arlington) Invasive Pull
Friday, August 15 2025
We'll be putting our shoulders to the wheel and we need your shoulders, too! The rainy weeks turbo-charged the invasives (and some aggressive natives) but we have been working hard to catch up. Sue Kim, natural resources technician with Arlington County, has lent us valuable help by applying herbicides and doing manual removal recently. We want to get out there this week and capitalize on Sue's good work. We plan to attack the usual offenders that are smothering the ground and the trees, but also need to get at the stiltgrass before it goes to seed. Lots to do!
Wear long pants and long sleeves (required!!) to protect from insects, poison ivy, and thorns. We will have insect repellents and poison ivy wipes, soaps (but those are not substitutes for protective clothing).
Also wear a hat and bring your own gloves and hand tools if you have them. We have some gloves and tools to lend.
Bring plenty of water for yourself. We will have snacks to share.
Assemble on the sidewalk next to 1000 Patrick Henry Dr., Arlington. Look for the "Volunteers" sign.
