Fourth of July Hillsboro Parade
Friday, July 04 2025
Students need to arrive at 7:45 a.m. at Peter Boscow. Dress code is blue band shirt, blue Hilhi shirt or any blue t-shirt. Remember sunscreen!
Volunteers will chaperone and keep kids hydrated throughout the parade. Volunteers should also wear blue band shirt, blue Hilhi shirt, or other blue shirt.
Parent volunteers meet at Peter Boscow (used to be an Elementary School, on 3rd & Grant in downtown Hillsboro) at 9:00 or earlier. (Stands near Boscow offer free coffee and donuts to parade participants!) Two volunteers are needed to arrive early and stay with the kids at Boscow while Geoff drops off the box truck with instrument cases at Poynter Middle School and then walks back to Peter Boscow.
NOTE: It works best to drop off your kid at Peter Boscow (at 7:45), then park at Poynter Middle School any time before about 8:30 am. (Poynter is near where the parade route ends at Hare field, and you won't get trapped by the parade in the Hare Field parking lot.) Then walk from Poynter MS to Peter Boscow, which is 1 mile (about a 15-20 minute walk). That way, you'll be close to your car at the end of the parade, and have no problem leaving.
CAUTION: The roads near Peter Boscow will be closed off. Parking near the start of the parade route will be extremely limited starting early in the morning. (If you don't get there really early, you won't be able to park, and if you do park near Boscow, you'll have to walk from Hare Field back to your car and will have a very difficult time getting out of the area, since the parade will still be going.)
