Map Kiosk New Construction (1x) & Restoration (2x) Project
Project Overview
This Eagle Scout Service Project, led by Andi L. Boldt of BSA Troop 261 (Plano), focused on the critical expansion and maintenance of the informational infrastructure at Erwin Park. Andi oversaw the construction and installation of a new informational map kiosk, designed as a direct replica of the existing park structures to maintain architectural continuity. To ensure the highest standard of durability, the project included a comprehensive restoration phase where Andi refinished the existing kiosks and inspected their structural footings, reinforcing her technical understanding of the build requirements before completing the new installation.
Execution & Leadership
The project followed an extensive planning and execution timeline, beginning on October 18, 2025, and reaching completion on March 15, 2026. Andi demonstrated strong leadership by managing a diverse team of nine volunteers, including two BSA youth members and four adults (three registered leaders and one parent). Her leadership was tested through complex logistics, including the movement of the heavy kiosk structure between storage locations and the technical challenge of pouring concrete footings to secure the kiosk firmly in the ground.
Service Impact & Resource Valuation
The new kiosk provides essential shelter and a centralized location for visitors to view upcoming events and park maps. The total project valuation reflects the generous donation of materials by Andi's family and the dedicated labor of the volunteer team.

Conclusion
The Erwin Park Map Kiosk & Restoration Project successfully met its goal of improving park infrastructure while fostering a safe and informative environment for trail users. Andi effectively navigated the challenges of a "big and heavy" construction project, delegating tasks such as concrete mixing and auger operation to the most qualified team members to ensure a professional finish. The resulting structures stand as a testament to her technical development and commitment to community service.
