Classical Enhancement: Socrates' Night
Tuesday, July 22 2025
SOCRATES NIGHT is a roundtable discussion between new-to-MCA-Upper parents and MCA tutors about Socrates's short, but famous "Allegory of the Cave". It is a powerful parable about the challenges and rewards of education amidst a truth-averse culture.
SOCRATES NIGHT will provide you
· a first-hand experience of what classical education is about
· a taste of how we teach at MCA
· memorable insights and a shared point of reference to discuss with your student
· deeper community with MCA tutors and other new parents
MCA will host two Socrates Nights this summer. Please RSVP by signing up for one of these nights.
The first will be Tuesday, June 17 from 6:00-7:30pm.
The second will be Tuesday, July 22 from 6:00-7:30pm.
We will meet in the common area of the Study Hall (the building extending from the baseball field toward the parking lot).
Please print out and read the parable (copy below) prior to coming and bring a copy of the parable and your Bible when you do.
We ask that at least one parent register a week in advance and participate in one of these two nights. MCA will offer 2 service hours per parent who attends. If both parents participate (think of it as a date night) MCA will give 4 service hours.
