Blue Ridge PRISM webinar (recording available): The Importance of Old Growth Forests (11:30am-1pm)
Wednesday, October 07 2026
Joan Maloof, Ph. D., ecologist, educator, and author of Nature's Temples: The Complex World of Old-Growth Forests, had a vision--for everyone in the United States to be able to enjoy the beauty, biodiversity, and ecological richness of mature and ancient woodlands. Fifteen years ago, she founded the Old-Growth Forest Nework to ensure that every US county here it's possible would have at least one permanently protectd, publicly accessible forest that will never be logged. In this free online webinar, Joan will explore "The Importance of Old Growth Forests" and explain why protecting the few that remain--and allowing more forests to grow old--is essential for the health of both people and the planet.
