Invasive Removal and Habitat Restoration at Larus Park

Friday, January 09 2026

Join us at Larus Park for our first collaborative event between RTS and the Friends of Larus Park! Despite its size (106 acres) Larus is a bit of a hidden gem. The land was donated to the city in the 70s and only opened to the public in 2006, though it remained relatively unknown until covid. Parts of the park are under heavy invasive pressure while other parts are surprisingly untroubled.

We've received permission from Sneed's Nursery to park in their BACK parking lot as the park's lot at the trailhead on Huguenot is rather small. The Sneed's bathroom is also available to those who need it. Please park in the Sneed's back lot (turn off Huguenot onto Hayden Hill Lane, between the gas station and the fire station) and cross the road to meet at the park trailhead.

Bring your own gloves and water, and hand pruners if possible. We will be focusing on invasive vines and creating buffer zones around trees.

11:00am - 1:00pm
