ASCENDtials Monthly Food Distribution Event

 

Arrives at 10 am to set up tables, tents, signage, and distribution flow. Ensures culturally relevant food items are organized by category. Works with Activist San Diego and ASCENDtials staff to prepare a safe, dignified environment for families.

10:00am - 12:00pm
Setup & Site Preparation Volunteer

Supports the early‑morning pickup of food from partner agencies. Responsibilities include loading boxes, securing items for transport, and delivering them to the distribution site by 10 am. Volunteers must be able to lift 25–40 lbs and follow ASCENDtials’ safety and handling procedures.

Check-In & Registration Volunteer

Manages participant check‑in, verifies eligibility (if required), and tracks attendance metrics. Uses digital or paper systems to record households served. Ensures a welcoming, respectful experience for binational families.

Supports the main distribution line by handing out produce, dry goods, and culturally relevant items. Maintains flow, restocks tables, and communicates respectfully with families. Ensures equitable distribution and follows ASCENDtials’ guidelines.

Manages the culturally relevant foods and wellness education table. Shares information about food origins, preparation, and cultural significance. Supports ASCENDtials’ mission of cultural healing and environmental stewardship.

Tracks distribution numbers, volunteer hours, household counts, and demographic data. Works with Activist San Diego to ensure accurate reporting for grants, including the Trueman–Queen grant. Supports end‑of‑event data consolidation.

Breakdown & Cleanup Volunteer

Assists with end‑of‑event cleanup from 12:30–1 pm. Breaks down tables, loads leftover supplies, disposes of waste properly, and ensures the site is restored to its original condition.
