AKA Connection & Social Action Legislative Writing Campaign
Saturday, March 05 2022
The AKA Connection and Social Action Committee invites you to join us with a Legislative Writing Campaign on Saturday March 5, 2022. The purpose of this activity is to influence our lawmakers regarding pending legislation impacting our community. Sorors are asked to write:
•One letter in support of Senate Bill 64, if passed, it will make election day in Georgia a state holiday. Senate Bill 64 is also an action alert item from our Regional AKA Connections leadership, authored in part by Senator Tonya P. Anderson of Senate District 43. Senator Anderson is our soror, an active member of Chi Tau Omega.
•One letter in support of Senate Bill 810, if passed it would end sales tax on menstrual products (ends period poverty).
•One letter in opposition of House Bill 888, if passed, primary and secondary schools would be docked 20% of state funding if found teaching U.S. history in a way that suggests the United States is a systemically racist country (teacher censorship).
•One letter in opposition to House Bill 933, if passed, would allow for anyone to inspect sealed ballots and other voter related documents (voter suppression)
