Baltimore Rowing Club

On Thursday, October 13th, from 12:30-5:30pm (see shifts below), BRC will be partnering with an international company who provides corporate team building experiences, Team Concepts Inc. One type of team building they offer is a rowing experience. This company is owned and run by an Olympic rower, Dan Lyons. I encourage you to check out their website. It is pretty impressive.

Sixty people will be attending this event. Dan has rented the boathouse from the city for their meeting room and he will be putting up an erging tent. He has his own coaches, who he will fly in. Dan holds these team building events all over the world. We will be partnering with him to provide boats, coxswains (5) and rowers (10).

This is a fabulous opportunity for BRC to refill our coffers here at the end of the rowing season. Dan will be paying the Club to use the shells and he will be paying the Club for your time. You will get volunteer hours.

This event has two experienced rowers in each boat: There will be five boats on the water at a time. The two squads (the 1:20 and the 3:30) will have a race at the end of their time on the water, so volunteer coxswains have to feel competent to handle a boat that is racing. (I'm not certain how fast he gets them to go, but there will be 5 boats in the basin racing at the same time.)
