October 18th High School Financial and Leadership Lesson!!!
Thursday, October 18 2018
High school is a very exciting time! Students are discovering a lot about themselves, their career path, and what they need to do to thrive as adults!
High school students are to meet monthly to complete units. This meeting is for all 9th-11th graders and will cover budgeting skills for Grades 9 & 11. 10th Graders will learn about "Protecting their Financial Identity." This meeting will be held at Hope City Church, which is within walking distance of East High School, address: 118 High St. Waterloo.
The guide for these lessons attached to this invite. Staff will bring everything that is needed for supplies. For Grades 9 and 11, you will see that we will be using an elaborate "Budget Keeper" excel sheet. Jennifer will be working with these groups to help guide you. Each table will need its own cellular device to work on. We will bring a few, but if you have one to bring, please let me know. The directions for how to help them are on the Tabs "Practice Assignments" and "Directions." If you would like to experiment with it before teaching it, please call or text Jennifer at 319-464-2389 with your email address and she will create a "copy" for you that you can use to practice with and also may be used the night of the lesson.
For 10th grade students, this lesson involves calling the Credit Bureaus.
Small group leaders are needed for each grade to help students complete activities and talk through what they are thinking, learning, and discovering.
Some students will also need rides so if you are able to help with that, that would be super!
Please indicate your availability below. We need help, so feel free to spread the word!
Thank you, High School Leaders!
