5th Grade - In-Class Christmas Project & Book Donation

December is an exciting and very busy month for our SFDS families and 5th-grade class. We hope that you have the opportunity to volunteer your time or make a donation for our upcoming December service project. Below we have included important information about the 5th grade Christmas Project. We will begin at about 12:15 and continue after lunch until about 2-2:15. We will be making fleece blankets and scarves for children staying in a battered women's shelter, which is coordinated through the Knights of Columbus. Each scarf or blanket will also have a book or small toy tied to it.

Fleece Material for Blankets
Needed for 6 Blankets for girl/boy under 5 years old. We will need the fleece fabric pre-cut & brought in by Wednesday, Dec. 6th. Please make sure the fabric pattern is unisex/gender-neutral. You will need one yard per blanket. For the blankets, the fleece needs to be cut into 42" x 36" rectangles, with a 4" x 4" square cut out of each corner (this allows for the tying of the fringe on all four sides). Fleece Material for scarves
Needed for 5 scarves for boy/girl 6 and older. We will need the fleece fabric pre-cut & brought in by Wednesday, Dec. 6th. Please make sure the fabric pattern is unisex/gender-neutral. Five scarves per two yards of fabric. Scarves need to be cut into rectangular strips that are 8 1/2" x 72” (please cut off the printed edges, as well as the raw edges). 4 Rolls of Wrapping Paper Bundle

Parent Volunteer
Assist in facilitating the Blanket and Fleece making and wrapping. Meet outside the Fifth Grade Class on Friday, December 8th at 12:00 PM. We will conclude at 2:15 PM. (2 Service Hours)
