Pranayama Breathwork Session (Virtual)

Tuesday, January 23 2024

Start off your new semester with ease. Our very own TMAPS member, Swapna Mathew, will be guiding us in a Pranayama Breathwork session. Pranayama increases mindfulness, improves mental health, and increases oxygen supply.

All participants will receive a $25 meal voucher gift card! To be eligible, you must be a TMAPS member (continuing education student, part-time student or a student currently taking a Chang school course)

About The Facilitator:
Swapna is a yoga instructor and emerging artist based in Toronto. Hailing from an engineering and MBA background, Swapna landed her dream job in corporate finance, but managing stress wasn't an important part of her course curriculum in B-school and wasn't in her professional toolkit. Introduced by a senior colleague, Swapna discovered mind-body wellness and holistic benefits of yoga. She sought yoga teacher training in Trivandrum, Kerala, India, and secured Yoga Alliance International certification in traditional Hatha Yoga and Children's Yoga in 2018.

Swapna firmly believes in making yoga accessible to everyone. Her classes focus on harmonizing the mind and body through the practice of "prana" or breath. In a fast paced world marked by stress and uncertainty, Swapna sees pranayama as an opportunity to slow down, introspect, and anchor the mind to the present moment.Swapna's Pranayama session begins with a warm welcome, introducing pranayama's significance. Gentle warm-up exercises, coupled with breath awareness, precede instruction and practice of pranayama techniques like Anulom Vilom, Kapalabhati, Bhramari Pranayama, and others.Participants are encouraged to bring their mats and, most importantly, to cultivate a sense of peace and surrender in the practice.

Aside from her passion for yoga, Swapna is a versatile mixed-media artist. Her upcoming exhibition, "Metamorphic Expressions," is scheduled to be showcased at the Toronto Public Library, Richview Branch, in April 2024.
