Great Naugatuck River and Naugatuck Railroad Clean Up Project Sponsored by CCF

Community Project to remove 1,000 Tires and other large items from the Naugatuck River and Naugatuck Railroad. During the pilot Clean Up on March 12th, volunteers removed 420 tires (passenger, truck and rimmed) filling 2 30 yard dumpsters. These tires are being recycled.
All Adults (18 years and over) and Youth (ages 12 -17) accompanied by adults are welcome! (When you click on "sign up", please sign up as a "non-user.")
Liability waivers will be required to be signed by volunteers 18 and over and by parents or guardians of youths between 12-17. The waiver is posted below.
Required: Volunteers need work gloves, work shoes or boots, blue jeans, and updated Tetanus shots
Recommended: Volunteers should have clothes to protect themselves from poison ivy and ticks, safety glasses, and hard hats
0800 Meet at Thomaston Train Station for Registration and Coffee
0830 Safety Briefing
0900 Train to Transport Volunteers to River locations and Mainline locations in Thomaston, Watertown and Waterbury.
1200 Lunch back at station
1500 Last Train returns to station
1530 Safety debrief and check out
Changes may be made to plans and updates will be emailed to volunteers who submit their email addresses.
A "Go" decision was made at 6pm on March 30th by Steve Casey. The weather looks good Saturday. The forecast is for 55 degrees and a 50% chance of rain. Bring your rain coat just in case.
