2026 Perseid meteor showerActive Dates: July 17 to August 24, 2026
Peak Dates: Overnight from August 12 into the early hours of August 13
Best Time to Watch: Between midnight and dawn local time, when the shower's radiant point is highest in the sky
Join Chris at the Armstrong Air & Space Museum starting at 8:00PM. He will train any interested persons in usage of the different telescopes the museum owns. This training is to assist interested volunteers in training for the telescope events we offer throughout the year. This is happening during the Meteor shower. Although there is much light polution in this area we may see a meteor past midnight if you wish to stay out that late.
Please RSVP to Chris by registering. You can invite an interested friend who would like to learn about our volunteer program but this is not an event open to the public. It is a training and opportunitiy to learn the museum equipment if interested. Training is weather permitting. Training ends at 10:00 but Chris will be there overnight using the equipment to star gaze if anyone else is interested in staying later.
