In conjunction with the classroom teacher(s), the Room Parents plan classroom activities and celebrations. They also coordinate parent volunteers for various events (recruit parent volunteers to assist with class project for the annual auction, for class celebrations/activities, for field trips, etc.). Room Parents will organize any group gifts for teachers' birthdays, holidays, Teacher Appreciation Week and the end of year gift. New this year, grade level Room Parents will also be supporting and organizing gifts for one Specialist Teacher in addition to their classroom teacher(s) throughout the year. Room Parents assist the Parent Association Board in communicating with class parents and coordinate at least one informal, grade level parent and/or family social activity each year. Names of interested parents will be submitted to teacher(s) for final decision. Often, there will be Parent Co-Chairs in each classroom/grade level.
