WAREHOUSE ASSISTANT

The World Relief Sacramento on-site warehouse holds all donated and new furniture and household items that are given to newly arrived refugee families. These items are used to assemble Welcome Kits for each refugee family’s apartment. Maintaining an organized and clean warehouse is crucial to ensure World Relief is a good steward of donated items. Warehouse assistants have an eye for detail and organization and can take initiative to solve problems. We are incredibly grateful for your consideration in helping maintain an organized warehouse!

Role and Responsibilities Overview

• Once you are signed up, you will be contacted to learn more about what time you can come in for your first shift. Volunteers can come in anytime 9:00am - 3:00pm and volunteer for 2 hour shifts.
• Your role in warehouse organizing is to sort through donated items and set aside items that are not gently used. Stained, ripped, or broken items are not to be given to newly arrived families and need to be disposed of. Items not listed on the Welcome Kit Checklist, but are in otherwise good condition will be donated to another organization.
• Your responsibilities include folding blankets, placing items in the corresponding aisle/section and washing dishes to maximize time when completing an apartment set-up.
• During donation drop-offs the warehouse sliding door remains open which can let in a warm summer breeze or the cold winter wind. Depending on your volunteer shift, you may need to wear warm clothing.
