ConcordiaTalks Movie and Discussion Night - "The Hunting Ground"
Tuesday, March 15 2016
Concordia University of Edmonton is hosting a Movie and Discussion Night focusing around the topic of Sexual Assault in our society. This is a very sensitive subject and can be difficult to discuss in an open environment.
There will be a special guest speaker talking on this topic. His name is Sgt. Randy Rechner with the RCMP
Following the movie and the guest speaker, they will break up into small groups with a table discussion host. You will be given a list of questions to ask the group of students and you will need to record their answers and keep the discussion on track.
The CSA Mental Health Street Team is providing free pizza, and the Psychology Students' Club will sell snacks with proceeds being donated to the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton.
The Hunting Ground is a winner of countless awards (including Winner Producers Guild of America Stanley Kramer Award and Utah Film Critics Best Documentary) with an Academy Award nominated song performed by Lady Gaga. It is an extremely powerful film, and speaks to the high rates of sexual violence on university campuses.
Lead discussion groups. *You will be given all the questions and materials.
