Concordia Volunteer Tutor Program (on going)

Thursday, March 31 2016

Concordia is starting up a new volunteer tutor registry. This is a great way to help other students on our campus and meet new people. You can also track your hours for the Student Ambassador program.

This program is ran through the Student Life & Learning Office. For more information I can connect you with Ileana Fernandez the program coordinator.

What is the Tutor Registry?
Concordia’s Tutor Registry serves to create a bridge between students and a student tutor based on specific subject needs. This is an independent position to the school meaning Concordia does not directly hire the tutors or pay a salary, but rather facilitates the connection between students and tutors. The rate and schedule is mutually set by the tutor and the student themselves. Thus, the amount of time you both meet is flexible, depending on what you and the student decide and the level of demand.

What kind of support is there for tutors?
Concordia believes it is not only important to support students in need, but also nurture the development of tutors in order to assure quality tutoring to Concordia students. Therefore, Concordia provides an online (at-your-own-pace) Tutor Training Module for starting tutors, ongoing one-on-one guidance and resources. The Tutor Training Module must be completed before your name is placed on the online registry as an available tutor.

How do students looking for a tutor contact me?
Once you have applied, completed the Tutor Training Module, and are accepted on the Tutor Registry, Students can contact you by accessing the registry through the HelpHub platform at https://helphub.me/networks/cue-tutoring, on the Concordia website, or through Student Life and Learning.
