Help with the Strawberry Festival at the Longmont Fairgrounds!

We are in our final preparations for the Strawberry Festival to be held on May 21 and May 22 at the Boulder County Fairgrounds. On Saturday we are open from 10:00AM to 5:00PM. Sunday we start at 11:00AM and finish at 4:00PM.

Our work isn't very glamorous as we serve a lunch that takes lots of volunteers in the kitchen to serve the lunch of Sloppy Joes and a dessert of fresh strawberry shortcake. We need servers, volunteers to cut the cake, whip the cream,and prepare the strawberries. Of course we also need people to wash the dishes, and clear the tables in the dining room. While the work is simple, our volunteers are aging rapidly. Some of them have been with us since the Strawberry Festival was revived in the late 1960's.

Our greatest need will be on Sunday afternoon as we close the show. Our clean up and pack up begin at about 3:30---5:00PM. Anyone who wishes to volunteer gets free admission to the show and a complimentary lunch for helping. Our need is really great this year. The experience is like living in a small town. The "community" is warm and friendly and has always been a highlight for young people. Parents and siblings are also most welcome and can become a "family affair.:"
We can authorize "community service hours" and will sign any document that certifies those hours.
