Hello, My name is Katie McManus and I'm reaching out in regards to a potential volunteering opportunity for your students! I'm part of the Arts Initiative program at Yellow Barn Farm north of Boulder.
We hope to open to the public as a CSA (community sponsored agriculture) farm in the spring, but for now we're hosting a ton of exciting events that bring together local farmers and artists!

Our first event of our "Art + Eat" series brings together a local artist and a local chef for an art exhibition combined with a farm-to-table dinner. Our chef for the evening - Chef Zin Zin - is a refugee from Myanmar who is cooking an authentic Burmese meal using locally sourced produce from surrounding farm and ranches.

So - onto the volunteering opportunity! I'm aware that many students at SCLA may have an interest in volunteering - or may have to record a certain number of volunteer hours as part of their curriculum. We would love to have a few students come and assist us with this exciting event! They could learn about local farming, local artistry, and see how the local community has really come together with limited resources and capital to make something like this happen, Additionally, the farm is always looking for volunteers to help with the farm as we prepare for our first public produce season - which will happen sometime early next year! We need about 10 extra volunteers for this event. It's happening this Friday from 2:00-7:30pm at Yellow Barn Farm (9417 N Foothills Hwy, Longmont CO 80503). Our chef has also promised to make enough food for the volunteer staff, so there's also an authentic Burmese meal included!
