Plant Rescue at Buttonbush Preserve in Cortlandt NY

Tuesday, October 24 2023

We'll be rescuing (digging up) native plants from a planned trail location in Westchester Land Trust's Buttonbush Preserve. This is a new preserve that is not yet open to the public.

We will be parking our cars and then shuttling to the preserve near where the planned trail will go in. We'll be bushwacking through the forest following flags marking where the trail will be put in and digging out plants that are growing there. We'll carry dug plants back to the shuttle drop point for later pickup.

Hiking may be up to 1 mile over uneven ground depending on how far we get along the planned trail route.

Bring a shovel and water/snack.

WEATHER: This event will be postponed to Friday October 27 if there is inclement weather. A decision will be made by noon the day before the event and you will be notified via email.

Please sign-up in advance.
