Native Planting at Fahnestock State Park in Cold Spring NY

Tuesday, October 03 2023

Come help us restore forest habitat for the New England Cottontail rabbit, a species of concern in New York, by planting native plants at Fahnestock State Park in Cold Spring, NY (Putnam Co.). This planting will install test plots of native plants where Japanese barberry has been removed. The plants will be established and then studied to understand the rabbits' use of them. If successful, more area will be restored.

You’ll work with the Wild Woods Restoration Project volunteers who have grown the native plants we'll be planting from locally-collected seeds. No experience is necessary. We provide the tools.

REGISTER: Event is limited to 10 participants. Advanced registration is required.

LOCATION: Northern Fahnestock State Park in Cold Spring, NY. More details about meeting location will be provided on sign-up. You'll receive a confirmation email immediately after registering. If you do not, please contact us for important event details.
