CAIR Coalition Translation Bank

Project Description:
The Capital Area Immigrants’ Rights (CAIR) Coalition strives to ensure equal justice for all immigrant adults and children at risk of detention and deportation in the Capital region area and beyond. The CAIR Coalition provides direct legal representation, know your rights presentations, impact litigation, advocacy, and the enlistment and training of attorneys to defend immigrants.

CAIR Coalition volunteer translators help ensure all immigrant individuals, regardless of the language they speak, can meaningfully participate in their cases. Translation opportunities involve translation of court documents such as birth certificates, declarations, letters of support, and news articles. No certification is required to be a volunteer translator or interpreter; however, strong proficiency is preferred.

This project will operate as a translator bank for CAIR Coalition to reach out to volunteers as needed. Volunteer opportunities are shared via email on a weekly basis, and opportunities are flexible – the volunteer can choose their own time commitment on a weekly basis.

How to Sign Up:
Please sign up below, and we will connect you with the CAIR Coalition to get you added to their volunteer pool and email list for weekly translation opportunities.
