Back to School Health Expo

Saturday, August 06 2022

Let's help the community get ready for school with the Back-to-School Health Expo! Join our new VCOM attending, Dr. Clark, and fellow VCOM students in helping the community get ready with beginning another academic year. The event itself will have various health booths and school supplies giveaways. As VCOM students, we will be providing blood pressure screenings and educating the importance of blood pressure monitoring. We will also be handing out sunscreen to community members, while educating the importance of properly using and applying it for overall health and illness prevention. We also may provide minor first aid, if necessary, with the assistance of Dr. Clark. Further, we ask volunteers to wear VCOM shirts or polos to professionally represent the school, while educating the community about VCOM itself, as well as osteopathic medicine as a whole. In doing so, we aim to improve the health and wellness of the Monroe community through incorporation and education of the osteopathic tenets, awareness, principles, and practice.

We ask that volunteers wear VCOM attire (shirt or polo), appropriate pants/shorts/skirt (we will be inside and outside the building, so keep in mind how hot it gets, but please do not wear shorts that are too short/inappropriate), and comfortable shoes. Please bring your stethoscope for blood pressure checks! We will try to bring water, but please bring your own in case. We advise you wear sunscreen (again, some time will be indoors and outdoors) and bring sunglasses. For your reference, the location is 204 Chappell St. Monroe, LA 71202.
