MLK Day of Service: Twin Creeks, McHenry County
Monday, January 19 2015
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is: 'What are you doing for others?'" Each year, Americans across the country answer that question by coming together on the King Holiday to serve their neighbors and communities. The MLK Day of Service is a part of United We Serve, the President's national call to service initiative. Please join Openlands for a restoration work day at Twin Creeks in McHenry County. No experience necessary.
This year TreeKeepers will host service day events throughout the region to create a web of green with new TreeKeepers and volunteers. This also gives the city folks a way to connect and learn about our natural areas outside the city and a day in the country! Work tools will be provided. Please dress for the cold and in layers and bring a packed lunch. We will provide tools, snacks, and water. We will have a brush bonfire to warm us up too.
Twin Creeks is located 15 miles south of Lake Geneva, WI and 6 miles north Woodstock, IL, near the small village of Greenwood and about sixty miles from Chicago, IL.
