Feed Louisville to VOA South Oaks
Friday, June 27 2025
-- PICK-UP INFORMATION
Where: Feed Louisville [1334 Story Ave, Louisville, KY 40206]
When: Arrive at 9:30AM
Contact: Warren - (502) 275-8751
-- PICK-UP INSTRUCTIONS
* Pull into the loading dock area directly across from The Whirling Tiger, the door will say DELIVERY ENTRANCE and it is likely that other vans will be parked there.
* Ask for Warren to see if there is any produce, bread, or desserts to be moved in addition to Haymarket RTE. Take them accordingly.
---- Haymarket RTE will be in the cooler marked in boxes on the first two racks on the right. If any of the food has a sell by date that exceeds 3-4 days past the pick-up date, put those aside to be thrown out, Warren will weigh out any waste.
---- Bread will be on the racks, across from the coolers. Look for bags of Haymarket half loaves that are already pre-packaged/pre-sliced in black bags.
---- Desserts will be in the smaller coolers across from the walk-in cooler. Only take from here if Warren says it is okay to. Typically the desserts in the walk-in cooler are free to take, but also good to confirm regardless.
---- Produce will be in the walk-in cooler, there is often an excess of salad greens–check the date on them and move them only if they look like they will keep longer.
* NOTE: DO NOT MOVE ANY LARGE QUANTITY TRAYS OF CUT FRUIT, BAGS OF LETTUCE, ETC. (ex. 5lb bag of mixed greens, 3lb tray of cantaloupe, etc.) Residents have a small fridge and freezer in their apartments, something that is manageable for them to keep in them is preferable.
* Check the pantry to see if there are any shelf stable goods that may be moved, such as cereal, pasta, and other relevant goods!
* Weigh out the goods and note weights on the clipboard. Title it “SOUTH OAKS (GLEAN) - OUT” and break it down based on the respective categories (Produce, Pastry/Dessert, RTE, Bread)!
