Harvest Supper!
Saturday, August 26 2023
Each August we come together to share that bountiful harvest with our community. Farmers, local producers of goods, and talented chefs all donate their time and products to create an amazing meal that is served on the Town Common in Greenfield, Massachusetts.
It takes a whole community to make a great community event. Hundreds of volunteers, over thirty farms, a dozen organizations, and countless home gardeners (along with over 1,000 hungry diners!) help make the supper a success. Planning, donating food, volunteering the day of the event, and providing information for the display area, are just a few of the many ways to be involved in this great event.
Food is served from 4-7pm on the Greenfield Town Common.

bring stuff from Hope Street over to the Common. Store open from 4-7pm
The final dishes will need to be finished to put into the Food Truck by 3:00PM to be taken to the Town Common for the initial serving at 4:30PM. You will help unload the food at the Common. Once everything is set up, your role is to make sure that all of the dishes that are being served under the tent are replenished. We are preparing the dishes in aluminum trays that will be more easily replaced. The replacement trays will be held in the Food Truck which will be placed between the Town Hall and the Second Congregational Church.
There will be two rows of tables in the serving tent and the dishes will be presented "back-to-back" (I am presuming that you understand what I mean by that).
Your job is to make sure that you are prepared to replace a dish to whoever requires it. You need to be alert to know when a tray is low on food.
You must have your hair/beard fully covered, please wear sensible shirts and capris or pants – no short shorts are allowed, and your feet must be fully covered.
It is very important for us to know just how many people actually come to dine with us at the Harvest Supper which is why we provide "counters" for your use.
You will be seated/standing at the beginning of the tent where diners enter which holds all the delicious dishes to be served.
I know you will all be gracious and smiling as they enter with their plates to be served.
Please be as accurate as you can --- I'm sure if there is a rush of a plethora of people a few may be missed.
The serving tent is set up in two rows so please station yourselves for each entrance -- and request that people enter in two rows -- that is your responsibility.
aprons and totes!
Keep an eye on the hoops and make sure none of them wander off!
Help Kaia, Whitney, and Jorie make art and build puppets with kids!
