Diggin' Shindig
Saturday, April 09 2022
Anyone who comes around when summer is in full swing knows that mosquitoes can be a major bummer at the ranch. To fight the problem we're installing some basic drainage in a spot that gets swampy so mosquitoes can't use it as a nursery. Now is the perfect time - those blood suckers haven't arrived yet and the new colony of bees has yet to arrive (we'll be digging near their future home).
It should be simple and straightfoward - although we've got a good crew gathered for digging, we could use more help! Many hands make light work and even just an hour or two can make a big difference so we can rotate between us.
One more reason to help: Smiling Hogshead Ranch is an organic farm so we can't/won't/don't use pesticides. Adding basic drainage like this is a non-harmful method of mosquito abatement. Hope to see you Saturday!
