NMA led work party at Evans Creek - Saturday May 17, 2025

Saturday, May 17 2025

The NMA will be working cooperatively with the US Forest Service on a few medium-sized projects. Most of it will be tread block, culvert and gravel to improve trailtread and drainage. The USFS is providing machinery to load and haul the materials, we need YOU to provide the labor getting it to the trail. No bikes needed for this work, it is all walk-in access.

If we're lucky enough to get a sawyer or two and a swamper, they can go up to the higher country to clear windfall. Note that if you are wanting to be on the windfall clearing crew you will need to have a dirt bike to reach the work locations.

Due to the Fairfax Bridge closure, there will be no camping and there is an 11 mile single lane dirt road in/out that is gated and locked on both ends. In order to get everyone through the locked gate, the plan is to meet at the Wilkeson Town Hall (540 Church Street) at 8:00 am each day and convoy in shortly after. Once in, folks won't be able to leave until we break for the day. Because of this, all volunteers must have the whole day clear for the work party. Please bring your own PPE, lunch and beverages. If you have a favorite shovel, mattock or rake, feel free to bring it, too.
