National Trails Day, Upper Park Trail Work

Saturday, June 07 2025

June 7th is National Trails Day, and the City of Chico invites you to join us for a morning of trail maintenance, and give back to the trails we love. Spring vegetation growth along Middle trail needs clearing, and we would appreciate your help brushing and trimming. In partnership with Chico Velo Trailworks, we will lead groups to work on different sections of middle trail, from horseshoe lake to B trail.

We will be meeting in the horseshoe lake parking lot (lot E). The workday will likely require several miles of hiking, and possibly operating a string trimmer/hedger, for those willing. We are trying to avoid the heat by starting at 7am, so please arrive early so we can begin on time. Some of this work can be strenuous, but you are not be expected to do any work you are not comfortable with. Some groups will carpool up the park road, and we may need to ask for volunteers to drive their personal vehicles to help with transport.

Please wear closed-toe shoes and bring water and any essential items you need. Tools and basic PPE will be provided. Your RSVP to this event acknowledges that you have read, understand and agree to the terms as described in the attached City of Chico release of liability. In the event the participant is under 18 years of age, please print & complete the attached volunteer application & return to Shane Romain, Parks & Natural Resources Mgr. shane.romain@chicoca.gov or 530-896-7831. Event sponsored by Chico Velo Trailworks and the City of Chico.
