Bee Hive Installation of New Packages into Hives

Monday, April 13 2026

Throughout the year Beekeepers Fred and Sally will need help with the bees. This can range from observing from the sidelines to getting involved firsthand and putting on a bee suit to assist during Hive Checks, Work Days and Honey Extraction Days.

Now that Spring is here, it's time to get the Bee Shed and Hives ready for growing season.

Join Fred and Sally on Monday, April 6 as they install new packages into hives. Anyone who wants to help with installation is welcome. A package is a box of about 10,000 bees plus a queen in a cage. You will dump the bees into the hive, uncork and place the queen cage inside as well, then feed the bees and wait a few days for the bees to release the queen.
