Woodlawn Elementary School Tree Planting

Urban Forestry is working with Woodlawn Elementary to plant 8 trees on their school grounds.
For this project, we are looking for adult volunteers* to help students to plant all 8 of those trees!

Work will include:
-Setting out tools
-Watching a demonstration on how to properly plant a tree
-Leading elementary students in the tree planting process.
-Helping students dig their hole, lift their tree, and talking them through the steps for tree planting.
-Staking trees
-Cleaning up tools

Details:
-We will work rain or shine, so be sure to dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes.
-Snacks and water will be provided to volunteers. Please bring a reusable water bottle.
-Urban Forestry will have gloves and all the tools needed.
*This event is only for adults.
*Volunteers working this event need to have a background check on file with Portland Parks & Recreation. If you aren't sure if you have a background check on file or need to fill out the form, please contact Allison at allison.osullivan@portlandoregon.gov.
If you are a Neighborhood Tree Steward or you have planted with us at schools in the past, you likely already have a background check on file.

Planting Lead
- Volunteers will primarily be leading or co-leading a group of elementary school students. - Volunteers will facilitate the student group to plant, mulch, and stake a tree! - Volunteers may also be asked to stake and water trees after the student participation.
