Plant an Understory with Whitman Elementary!

Depave removed 2500 square feet of asphalt from the Whitman Elementary School playground!
Urban Forestry brought in mulch and planted 12 Trees with students!
Now it is time to get dozens of native shrubs and plants in the ground.
We will work with students to do the planting.
Work will include:
- Watch a planting demonstration
- Prep the area for students' arrival
- Show students how to properly put the plants in the ground
Details:
- We will work rain or shine, so be sure to dress for the weather and wear closed-toe shoes.
- Snacks and water will be provided to volunteers. Please bring a reusable water bottle and any other food you may need.
- Everyone must wear a mask during the event.
- Urban Forestry will have gloves and all the tools needed.
** This planting is only for Neighborhood Tree Stewards or Volunteers who already have a background check on file.
** Proof of vaccination will be required.
