WHAT: Volunteer Doorhanging Event
WHERE: Brentwood City Park (6835 SE 60th Ave, Portland, OR 97206) https://maps.app.goo.gl/8ZpBaCJKQeh697ih8
WHEN: Saturday, July 12, 10 am to 1pm
Join Urban Forestry for a volunteer event to help bring more trees to Brentwood-Darlington!
Urban Forestry is launching a new program that offers free street trees to residents with planting space in front of their homes where there’s no sidewalk or curb—areas known as unimproved rights-of-way. Many of the streets in Brentwood-Darlington fall into this category, making it a great opportunity to grow the neighborhood’s tree canopy. With limited tree cover, the area is especially vulnerable to heat, but planting more trees can help cool the neighborhood, improve air quality, and support community well-being. Join fellow tree lovers to spread the word, by hanging as many doorhangers as you can in just two hours.
*Minors must be accompanied by an adult*
The event runs from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. You will spend about two hours hanging reminder flyers on doors. At the start of the event, you'll receive a brief introduction to our program, a map of your route, and a few short talking points. The goal is to distribute as many reminder flyers as possible—not to engage in conversations with residents. That said, you are of course welcome to talk to residents if you'd like to. If anyone asks for more information, you can point them to our contact information on the flyers or direct them to Urban Forestry staff, who will be stationed at a central location in Brentwood City Park.
Bring a water bottle and wear sneakers. Lunch will be provided.
