Black Mangrove Tree Planting
Buras, La.
October 21-22, 2022

Join the us to plant black mangrove trees in Plaquemines Parish! In the summer of 2021, CRCL constructed our fourth oyster reef. In partnership with the Atakapa/Ishak-Chawasha of Grand Bayou Indian Village, the reef protects their sacred Lemon Tree Mound. This year, we will plant and pot 3,000 mangrove trees to further protect the area. On Friday, volunteers will board boats and harvest tree propagules from a mangrove grove. On Saturday, volunteers ride boats to the Lemon Tree Mound and plant the propagules.
