Please join Baton Rouge Audubon for our September presentation on the 8th.

Title: Shorebird Conservation in Louisiana's Wetlands

Presenter: Karis Ritenour, Conservation Biologist with Manomet's Shorebird Habitat Management Division

Date: Thursday September 8

Time: 7:00 - 8:00 PM (Social at Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center at 6:30-7:00)

Description: Karis will give us an introduction to shorebirds that you are not likely to see on the shore. We'll be talking about the suite of shorebird species that rely on inland wetlands and farm fields as stopover sites along their migration path from the high Arctic to South America and back every year. These long-distance migrants are among the fastest declining bird species in the world, so we'll look at how Manomet, a nonprofit conservation organization, and our partners are working to research, protect, and conserve these species both here in Louisiana and throughout the Western Hemisphere.

Please note that we will again have a hybrid meeting. We will meet in person at the Bluebonnet Swamp Nature Center education building at 10533 N. Glenstone Place, Baton Rouge, LA 70810. [Reminder - this is NOT the main entrance to Bluebonnet Swamp; it's one street south on the right.] The education building is located at the back of the loop drive and there is a large mural on the building.

You are welcome to join us from home for the Zoom session, but you must register in advance at the link below:
