Louisiana Master Naturalists of Greater New Orleans

On April 23, LCM is hosting our first annual MudFest. It’s a whole day dedicated to dirt/mud with three dump trucks-worth of mud, and roughly six mud-themed activities. We are looking for volunteers to either lead activities or to generally help with things like check-in or facilitating play with children. Below is a breakdown of volunteering at MudFest.

All day or in shifts (8 am – 12 pm, 10 am – 2 pm, 2pm – 6 pm).
Volunteering options
General volunteers – help with check in, playing in the dirt with kids, staffs an LCM-designed activity station
Activity volunteers – takes initiative to create a mud themed activity ($100 budget from LCM) – see below for ideas
Café Du Mud – mud bakery
Trawling for our favorite bottom dwellers (crawfish, shellfish, fish) in a bubbling swamp and building crawfish houses
Seed starters with recycled and repurposed household materials
Toddler area (mini version of the big dirt pile for littles)
Mud painting
Mud people – creating self-portraits with nature items
LMNGNO is more than welcome to create their own mud-themed activity.
