Nature Conservancy’s Grand Isle Clean Up
Thursday, January 13 2022
MUST CONTACT: jlandry@tnc.org
With the days limited for FEMA to pickup debris that is being put to the roadside for removal, the Nature Conservancy’s Grand Isle Lafitte Woods Preserve Tracts could use your help to get the Hurricane Ida debris removed from the trails and tracts.
The LA Conservation Corp will be here from January 10 to January 19. They will need our help to remove the debris from roofs to paper trash that was blown into the forest.
Efforts are being made to host a one day Migratory Bird Celebration on April 23, 2022 but it will only be possible if the Grand Isle maritime forest is cleared of downed trees, hanging branches, and other debris that floated in or was blown in by the winds.
Also, this would be your opportunity to see the terrific Purple Martin housing that has been installed on some of our tracts by Krista and Mike Adams of the Purple Martin Housing Initiative.
Please help get this volunteer opportunity information to your various organizations and friends. If there are any questions, please email them to me at jlandry@tnc.org.
