Celebrating Louisiana’s Coastal Community Organizations
Session 1 - Virtual Open House
5:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Hear from those working in the news media to cover Louisiana’s fight against land loss, climate change, hurricanes, and flooding. The session includes three presentations followed by a moderated panel discussion. Mark Schleifstein, the Advocate, will discuss his coverage of river diversions. Bob Marshall will dive into climate change and the implications for our coast. Tegan Wendland, WWNO, will talk about the future shape of Louisiana’s Boot and how we adapt. The panel discussion will include these three and Amy Wold, Water Institute of the Gulf, facilitating audience Q&A as moderator.

Session 2 - Community-Based Organization Feature

Learn more about Louisiana’s long history as a multicultural Gumbo pot of native people, immigrants, descendants of enslaved people, and refugees that results in the diversity of communities that are home to our coast. Hear from community leaders representing three different organizations and learn about their efforts to plan for climate change, adapt to changing environmental conditions, and promote stewardship of our coast.
