Coastal Conversations: What is that green stuff in the lake? Is it harmful?

About
What are HABs (Harmful Algal Blooms)? How are they affecting aquatic life in the lake and bayous near us? How can I find out more about this environmental issue?

Please join us for dialogue on this topic. This FREE series allows individuals impacted by environmental issues, scientists, and community members to share their knowledge and perspectives in a forum-like setting that will rotate to different locations each month. Coastal Conversations will happen from 6-7pm on the second Wednesday of each month. During COVID-19 in-person audiences will be limited to 50 registered participants and follow physical-distancing and mask protocols. Coastal Conversations will be streamed for additional participants and participants who prefer to attend virtually.

Speakers for this event include:

Dr. Brady Skaggs, from Pontchartrain Conservancy's water quality department. He will be discussing his research into harmful algal blooms (HABs) in Lake Pontchartrain.

Justin Gremillion, Chief Sanitarian at the Louisiana Department of Health will speak about how HABs impact the community.
