Bat Walk with Dr. Craig Hood
Sunday, October 06 2019
Join Dr. Craig Hood, Professor of the Environment Program and Biological Sciences, Loyola University, to learn and explore the bats living in and flying about Audubon Park. Dr Hood is a bat biologist who has studied bats throughout the world, from Thailand, Papua New Guinea and China, to the Caribbean, Central America and the United States. Over the past 30 years he has been documenting the bat species that live in SE Louisiana, including the first scientific studies of bats (and mammals, generally) at Jean Lafitte National Park, Audubon and City Park. He is currently deploying a network of bat monitoring stations across SE Louisiana to discover and monitor our regional bat populations.
We will meet at the little Audubon Park bridge (see MAP) starting at 7 pm and discuss and demonstrate how electronic bat detectors work, then “listen” and watch for the bats that fly by
