Keep Growing Detroit Farm Volunteers

Saturday, April 12 2025

We will be volunteering at KGD Farm, which is located in the heart of Detroit's Historic Eastern Market District along the Dequindre Cut Greenway. We will be helping with seasonal tasks including planting, harvesting, site beautification, and general farm maintenance.

All activities will take place outside or in a hoophouse with the doors and sides open to promote airflow.

Free parking is available in a lot across the street. KGD Farm pathway materials include wood chips, gravel, and grass. There is one step up onto the curb from Orleans St to the entrance of KGD Farm. A step-free entrance can be accessed at the corner of Orleans St. & Wilkins St.

No prior experience needed. No pre-registration required.

Keep Growing Detroit’s mission is to promote a food sovereign city where the majority of fruits and vegetables consumed by Detroiters are grown by residents within the city’s limits.

KGD's vision is that there are places to grow food in every neighborhood in Detroit and that these places are scaled so they can be integrated into the fabric of the surrounding area and help maximize community and economic development opportunities that benefit residents.
